Gurugram: India’s Latest Tech Hub

Two decades ago, no one ever envisioned the underdeveloped farmland with no basic amenities will become one of the top five  Asian IT and innovation hubs.  Before the development of the city, the land was quite fertile & the major source of income was agriculture.

It’s not surprising, Gurugram which was once considered as a village have developed into the biggest tech hub.  As per a report titled ‘Programming Asia Pacific’s Tech Cities as Global Tech Hubs’  Gurugram is a preferred destination of a wide range of traditional and new tech startups.  Gurugram has an office stock of 60 million sqft, which is the second-highest in the country after Bengaluru (155million sqft) and a large majority of it, in both cities, has been rented by technology and ITeS (IT-enabled service) companies.  Gurugram becomes the perfect option for entrepreneurs and other multinational companies due to the presence of deep tech talent pool, cutting edge infrastructure well-entrenched R&D ecosystem, and the veritable competitive cost advantage.

The city’s proximity to National capital & international airport and availability of grade A office spaces is an added advantage Gurugram has. The availability of office space and a favorable business environment make Gurugram an apt choice for tech companies. From startups to top brands one can find everything in Gurugram.  In an interview with CNN, Akshant Goyal, Vice president of Zomato said “(In Gurgaon), you have Google and Facebook… And within (the One Horizon Center) you will find Uber, Booking.com, and TripAdvisor,”

The constant efforts by the Indian government and the announcement of various policies to incentivize the development of IT Parks and Special Economic Zone helped in the development of the biggest tech hub – Gurugram.
